I saw C-Jags at Oxfordshire?s Truck Fest and they were an excitable 3-piece with
a brand of retro rock different from the NME-lorded indie band conveyor-belt.
With this single 'Sandy?, they deliver a cool summery slice of old-style rock
and roll.
If you can imagine Starsailor?s James Walsh singing a song for the soundtrack of
a Grease remake, you are getting close. It is not a track that is going to blow
you away, but it?s a sassy, seductive tune for slicking back your quiff, pulling
up the collar of your leather jacket, and dancing with a girl (speaking from a
blokes point of view obviously).
It begins like one of the songs from There?s Something About Mary, and with
jangly guitars to match The Hives, the short but sweet song becomes very
addictive after several plays, and it?s impossible not to sing along to the
chorus line ?Oh Sandy, cheer up my darling, you don?t need that pain in your
way?.
The North Londoners are playing some London/Brighton dates at the end of August
and through September. Definitely worth a look if you like toe-tapping retro.
