After a brief tambourine shimmer, the song opens with vibrant jumpy piano, before an early Britpop-style verse with a 2/4 rhythm and minimalist acoustic strumming. The piano returns as the blissfully melodic chorus kicks in. It’s summer-soaked, and with the delicate little voice harmonies and “ooh, ooh’s”, it sounds like Suede meets Easyworld. The simplistic lyrics like “In reality, you’re not so keen to show me anything, and I thought you liked me”, and in the chorus, “Show some love, you aint so tough, just fill my little world right up, right up”, fit the teenage mood of this little ditty perfectly.
With Fill My Little World, The Feeling have produced an inoffensive, crisp and sparkling pop ballad, which as much as you want not to like it, is a catchy tune that might threaten to bring a smile to your face. One to play in the morning before work.
