Washout is a quirky and summery guitar pop gem. It’s upbeat and optimistic and comes across as early Coral meets the Libertines. The jerky angular guitar intro enters and the wiry singer sings “it must be a certainty when fact is fiction and fiction is fear”.

His voice fits well over the toe tapping jangly beat. It’s a track that once it gets into your head; it stays there for some time. As the vocalist sings “was out the sun, was out the sun”, over and over in the chorus, you wonder why. It’s just so darn perfect for the summer.
