In short, Thx Fr Th Mmrs is another fantastic single from Fall Out Boy. In detail, their musicianship, their energy and their sheer intelligence are exactly what it takes to create a great song. Thx Fr Th Mmrs, or Thanks For The Memories, it’s actual spoken title is a prime example of why Fall Out Boy are on top of the music scene at the minute. Their latest album Infinity on High was a massive hit in the UK and in their homeland of North America and Thanks For The Memories follows up hit single This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race, which hit number 2 in the UK singles chart and ‘The Carpal Tunnel of Love’, which was released as a download-only single.
Thanks For The Memories is typically a catchy American pop punk song. Joe Trohman’s catchy guitar hooks, Patrick Stump’s addictive vocals and some heavy drum sequences from drummer Andy Hurley give this song that cutting edge feel, not to mention FOB mastermind Pete Wentz’ quirky bass lines. The verses flow smoothly, interest the listener and build up atmosphere from the very start. The atmosphere leads into the chorus, where the song climaxes. It’s basically, a perfect chorus. It’s got the sing along style a pop punk song should have and the perfect song to get up and dance to. It’s quite hard to find a highlight in this song, as the lights are on full beam from start to finish.
If you’re yet to hear this song, then I strongly suggest you make an effort to hear it, being one of Fall Out Boy’s best songs to date, with probably the best video I’ve seen. Be sure to check it out.
