The big bass line intro makes way for a swooning indie-pop number that recalls the back end of Britpop. It you take the distinct vocals from Gomez’s Ben Otterwell, the shimmery melodies of Gene and a nice dose of Adam Ant and you’ll have something that resembles Brinkman.
The swirly guitars, foot-tapping bass and parping trumpet make it a likable song. The catchy melodies and vocal harmonies make it geared for daytime radio, and will no doubt soundtrack someone’s summer. Brinkman won’t change your life, but they’re make 2 minutes and 45 seconds pass quite pleasantly.
