With an opening riff that sounds like a cross between Razorlight and Rooney, the song starts off on the right foot; just poppy enough for the radio, but off-kilter enough for even the most cynical Radiohead listener.
Athlete's new single, Tokyo is an upbeat effort, and a solid one. A strong rhthym, and a simple, effective vocal line carry the song through three and a half minutes of entirely listenable music. As with everything, there is a but, and in this case, the but is the hook, or lack thereof. Tokyo is a good track, it's just waiting for a killer hook, or a a special something to pull it up to being great.
Tokyo is a strong single, and shows definate promise for Athlete's current studio album, Beyond the Neighbourhood.
